Dental Offices

The 2017 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) “Dental Office Category Rule” (40 CFR Part 441) applies to any dental practice that places/removes amalgam and discharges to a Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) such as SVCW.

All dental practices within the SVCW service area, regardless of placing/removing dental amalgam or not, are required to submit a one-time Dental Facility Compliance Report to SVCW. Practices that place/remove amalgam are required to maintain or install an amalgam separator and follow best management practices (BMPs). There is no fee for this program.
